It was a public holiday yesterday, Victory Day appearantly! Malta has the most public holidays in Europe, it's awesome as it means that you are off work and can be out eating a drinking wine from afternoon to evening in true Maltese spirit :)
According to Joe the Driver (our crazy taxi driver that takes us to and from the office every day) the victory was against the Turks some 500 years ago. I've learnt something new today again!
The next public holiday is on the 21st of September, and then it's Independence Day!
